Due to the increasing need for nurses and the limited faculty resources available, it is necessary to determine the essential criteria to be used in the selective admission process for nursing programs in order to ensure the admission of those students who are most likely to succeed in the programs. There is abundant research showing the predictable value of standardized tests and grade point averages, but there have been very few studies conducted that are concerned with the ability of individual interviews to predict outcomes. This study will address the gap in the literature related to the effects of adding structured interviews to cognitive admissions processes. The performance in college admission standardized test (T1), specialized pre-nursing standardized test scores (T2), prerequisite course grades (T3), individual interviews scores(T4), gender and GPA of 209 students were analyzed by correlation, regression and logistic analysis. The main results show that only T2 and T3 and gender are significantly associated with GPA. However, T2,T4 and gender are significantly associated with the chance of the completeness of the program.
