Abstract:
|
A difficult problem in many psychiatric diseases is the highly variable placebo response rate. The sequential parallel design has been proposed as an alternative to the traditional parallel design clinical trial. Usage of the sequential parallel design in psychiatric clinical trials is increasing. In this talk, I will review the design and the underlying assumptions in the design, discuss both hypothesis testing and estimation options, and lay out some remaining statistical issues which are still unresolved.
