Abstract:
|
Nine years ago I began collaborating with nurse researchers. Armed with a PhD in statistics, I went to work ready to show off my skill. I quickly realized I was naïve in at least two ways. First, I knew very little about psychometric measurement: a staple in a nurse researcher's methodological diet. Second, modeling healthcare efficiency was a mystery. However, using an open mind, fundamentals from statistics, and collaboration with my nursing colleagues has resulted in what I feel is an exciting statistical research trajectory. I wish to present some details using examples from the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators® (NDNQI®).
