Abstract:

A new multivariate generalized Poisson distribution that allows for any type of correlation is defined and studied. The marginal distributions of the multivariate model are the univariate generalized Poisson distributions. The model can be used to describe a count data with any type of dispersion. The parameters of the multivariate distribution are estimated by using the moment and the maximum likelihood methods. Some test statistics are discussed and two numerical data sets are used to illustrate the applications of the multivariate model.
