Abstract:
|
Explicit modelling of health processes is important for developing realistic assessments and projections of population health risks. Threshold regression (TR) is a flexible approach to statistical modelling and analysis that requires and facilitates explicit modelling. This talk will review some issues, challenges and insights involved in a TR approach to population risk assessment including, as special topics, the connection of TR to age-period-cohort (APC) analysis and the modelling of recurrent health events. The issues and methodology will be demonstrated using chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
