Abstract:

In this talk I will first review the current state of recurrent event modeling and statistical analysis in the reliability, biostatistics, and in other scientific settings. I will then describe a general class of dynamic models for recurrent events which are particularly appropriate when interventions and/or repairs are performed after each event occurrence, such as in load-sharing models. I wil then discuss issues pertaining to such dynamic models such the finiteness of the number of event occurrences, dependent and informative censoring, semiparametric estimation of the model parameters, and finite and asymptotic properties of the estimators. Applications to some real data sets will be demonstrated. Finally, some open problems pertaining to recurrent events will be indicated.
