Abstract:
|
Networks are widely used to represent relational information among interacting units and the implications of these relations.
Social network analysis has a long history in the social sciences. The modeling of social networks is, and has been, broadly multidisciplinary with significant contributions from the social, natural and mathematical sciences. This has lead to a plethora of terminology, and network conceptualizations commensurate with the varied objectives of network analysis.
This roundtable will give an overview of (social) network analysis from the perspective and experiences of a social statistician. We consider issues of the survey sampling of networks and partially-observed networks. We will discuss applications, statistical issues encountered, software and the possible futures of SNA.
