Abstract:
|
In this poster, we consider all of the shots recorded by the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 2008-09 regular season. Developing a spatial model for probability of a goal given a shots location we compare both goalies and shooters. In particular, we compare the shooting probabilities by shot location for some of the NHL's top scorers including Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. Finally, we also create a spatial prediction model for each type of shot e.g. slap shot or wrist shot.
