Abstract:
|
Key to ASA's efforts to raise the profile of statisticians to policymakers and decisionmakers will be the interaction of ASA Members with Congress. This panel will engage the audience in a discussion of the many ways that members communicate with Congress. The panel will share the experiences of the 60 ASA members that participated in the Congressional Visits during JSM 2009 and the responses they received. Panel members will also discuss other ways ASA Members have engaged Members of Congress or their staff. With JSM not occurring in DC again for at least another 5 years, the panel will present other ways for members to engage Congress. The panel invites active participation from the audience to make the discussion a success.
