Abstract:

We introduce expected coverage probability as a measure for assessing the performance of the interval estimation methods while constructing confidence intervals for the binomial proportion. A method for constructing the confidence interval for binomial proportion through a logistic model fit of the expected coverage probabilities of the Clopper-Pearson interval is proposed. The method provides intervals comparable to the alternative intervals, such as the Wilson or Jeffrey intervals.
