Abstract:

In Spring semester of 2010, the Statistics Department of the Pennsylvania State University starts to offer the online "Stat 506: Sampling Theory and Methods" via the World Campus. The author of the online course, Dr. Mosuk Chow, had taught the course in residence for five years prior to creating the online material. Working closely with the instruction designer for the online Master of Applied Statistics Program, she spent one year in dthe course material includes lessons, interesting websites, additional course resources and interactive learning tools. The class size was limited to 25 students and got full enrollment during the first offering. The textbook for the course is: Sampling, 2nd edition by Steven K. Thompson. This course can be selected as an elective course for the online Master of Applied Statistics program or the online Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics.
