Abstract:
|
Applied statisticians in industry and consulting constantly need to interact with engineers, scientists, and other subject matter experts. From the initial consulting session through the data collection, analysis, and reporting, the burden of effective communication is on the statistician. This roundtable lunch will give applied statisticians tips for bringing the highest possible value to a consultation. Through examples from the attendees' experiences, we will discuss all phases of a consultation and aim to shed light on the client/statistician relationship, through topics such as how to answer the sample size question, how to make sure that data is collected according to the sampling plan, and how to present results in tables and graphical form to facilitate understanding.
