Abstract:
|
This paper investigates the variance homogeneity (constant variance) assumption for random effects in the linear mixed-effects model and proposes a method for modeling potential heterogeneity through the dependence of random effects variance on cluster-level covariates. We also derive a diagnostic test for heterogeneity based on score statistic.
