Abstract:
|
Debate over Bayesian and frequentist approaches has been on-going for years. Both philosophical and analytical comparisons exist in different forms. This paper is intended to provide a simple comparison between these two approaches in a specific way. Under the framework of the conjugate normal distribution, it is proven that asymptotically the Bayesian approach is equivalent to the frequentist approach. Finite sample difference between these two approaches is studied by simulations. The impact of the prior distribution on the inference is also investigated through simulations.
