Abstract:

As any other new treatment strategy, also personalized treatment strategies have to demonstrate their benefit over the current standard treatment in randomized clinical trials. However, for some subgroups of patients the proposed strategy my offer no benefit, decreasing the power of the trial. In this paper we investigate, whether one can overcome this loss in power by systematically testing all subsets of patients for the existence of a treatment effect.
