Abstract:
|
Good statistics is a necessary input to sound public policy. Sometimes, the perceived complexity of the method is used as a reason to undervalue the results of the analysis. Although there is no way to avoid honest complications, Bayesian methods lend themselves to greater transparency about assumptions and simpler statements of conclusions. This roundtable will discuss how Bayesian methods have been embraced, ignored, or gingerly poked at by a number of different federal agencies, in the context of many specific policy applications.
