Abstract:
|
Mean residence time(MRT) is a common parameter used in pharmacokinetics to describe the amount of time a drug stays in the body. The current practice is to use a probability distribution proportional to drug concentration to estimate MRT. This practice is mathematically incorrect. Correct methods for both one-compartment and two-compartment models will be presented. The new methods are rigorously derived using some simple differential equations and a little bit of results from renew process.
