Abstract:
|
An introductory statistics class has recently gone through a course redesign, eliminating 75 minutes of class time a week by moving some of the learning online. This type of structure is called a hybrid class. The results of a survey to gauge students' attitudes toward this type of class will be presented. To judge the success of the hybrid course, scores from the traditional setting class were compared to scores from the hybrid class. No significant differences were found when comparing overall grade distributions between the two types of classes. Results from the survey indicate that students like having a variety of tools to study from and enjoy the flexibility that the course provides. Anyone who is about to embark on such a course redesign will benefit from this presentation.
