Abstract:

This paper studies the estimation problem for case-control studies with misclassified ordinal data. Under an assumption that misclassification occurs only between adjacent categories of the polychotomous exposure variable, a bias-adjusted generalized odds ratio and a linear trend test are proposed to account for misclassification errors. The data of nasal carrier rates for streptococcus pyogenes among healthy children provided from the main study in Holmes and Williams (1954) is used to illustrate on how to conduct a sensitivity analysis when the validation data are not available.
