Abstract:
|
Multi-state models are useful for modelling endemic diseases, where animals are either susceptible or infected, or smoking, where individuals are either current, former, or never smokers. A model is constructed for transition probabilities, which vary with time and over space, and the data available are states at particular times. A Gaussian random field is specified for the latent spatial risk surface, and MCMC used to sample from the posterior distribution. Small-area maps of smoking from survey data and spatial risk surfaces for an endemic animal disease are produced.
