Abstract:

The amount of information generated by high-dimensional biological assays continues to increase; the current set of "next generation" sequencing platforms is the latest iteration. These large data sets offer increasing opportunity for biological insight, provided we develop integrative methods to analyze and interpret the masses of data produced. We will describe our experience analyzing mRNA-SEQ (Solexa) gene expression data to understand pathways of immunological response to vaccine stimulus. We evaluate modeling strategies including Poisson and Negative Binomial regression, need for over-dispersion parameter and impact of blocking factors. Methods, data, and results will be demonstrated.
