The focus of this panel session will be on the efforts among statisticians, mathematicians and governing agencies to create standards and guidelines for statistics education. Each panelist will provide a brief background of the initiative she has participated in, the guidelines produced, the progress of implementation and the challenges the still need to be addressed. Specific mention will be made as to how these guidelines will prepare future generation to function effectively in a data centric world. It is vital that the statistical community be actively engaged in the progress of these initiatives as they will become the foundation for statistics education in the United States from kindergarten through college.
