Abstract:
|
Outside of academia, statisticians have a reputation as incompetent managers and lousy communicators. These stereotypes - whether actual or exaggerated - coupled with the "democratization of statistics" (analysts without advanced statistics degrees replacing statisticians) are holding statisticians back from being perceived as necessary in every organization. I will examine the problem and show techniques to improve communication. Lastly, I will review results of a communications experiment on statisticians.
