Abstract:
|
The analysis of space-time small area health data is often carried out retrospectively and with 'global' assumptions about parameterization. While local models are available (e.g. GWR in spatial applications) these often do not allow the estimation of hidden structure in the data. Such structure could be quite important in space-time data. In particular we consider the situation where different areas of spatial maps have different temporal components underlying the risk. This essentially means that we view a map as having separable areas which are grouped by their temporal profiles. The exact locations of these areas is unknown as are their number. In this presentation, we propose to consider a range of approaches to the analysis of these latent components: Bayesian probability weighting, singular multinomial models, membership models and special loss function models.
