Abstract:

The speakers will discuss differences and similarities in teaching statistics to a variety of health professionals. Differences include cultural traditions, ethnicity, state of societal development, resources available for teaching and subsequent employment, perception of statistics in certain fields and more broadly, and professional customs as well as requirements for the scope and sophistication of material presented. As the pervasiveness and usefulness of statistics have spread, there are also similarities in needs and desires on the part of the teacher and the students.
