The human brain is an amazing thing. Humans are learning animals. It is what we do far better than any other animals. Unless you are a reader of the Journal of Neuroscience, you may not be up-to-date on the latest discoveries about how our minds work and how we learn. We will examine the current theories about how humans learn. We will note that the typical statistics course is not designed to foster learning - no wonder so many students have trouble with statistics! We will also discuss. We will discuss applications of brain-based learning principles in designing courses that will facilitate the teaching and learning of statistics.
