Abstract:

The comparison and evaluation of multiple classifiers is a common task for the selection of an appropriate or best classification method. In this paper, we present new methodology for assessing whether or not there are significant differences between multiple classifiers through the use of ROC curves. By converting the ROC curves to polar coordinates we can compare these curves along their radii. We then estimate the variability in the radii at each angle by resampling from the original diagnostic test scores from which we are trying to distinguish. Comparison can then be made a p-values developed at each angle.
