Abstract:
|
In this presentation, we describe a core course in the Master of Science in Biostatistics program at the Medical College of Georgia entitled "Biostatistical Consulting in Research." The purpose of this course is to provide the students with instruction in the basic principles of effective statistical consulting and collaboration and to give them some "hands-on" experience as statistical collaborators. The emphasis throughout the course is on the effective communication of statistical results to non-statisticians. The "human side" of statistical consulting is also a primary focus of the course. We describe our experiences as co-directors of the course, and offer suggestions on how it might be improved.
