Abstract:

The session presents the C++-based Estimation Toolkit for Item Response Theory Modeling (ETIRM) as an example of statistical/psychometric software published under an open source agreement, and currently available by download from smallwaters.com. The roundtable discussion will address these aspects of statistical software development and dissemination as Open source: (a) Freely available resources for Open source software development, (b) coding and documentation requirements for successful source code sharing, and (c) legal issues such as copyrights and license agreements.
