Abstract:

In this study, the subject of assuring the quality before producing the product which is the recent quality concept has been mentioned and the experimental design method has been explained for this aim. Then The Taguchi Method which makes the experimental design widespread for manufacturing sector has been researched. In the application part of the study, the factors which affects the fuel consumption in F-4 aircrafts were determined. For this aim the Main Fuel Control unit which supplies fuel to the engines was studied during its final test phase in 1st Air Supply and Maintenance Center Fuel Test Shop. Five factors that may be effective on fuel consumption have been taken into account and effective ones determined using Full Factorial Experimental Design, Fractional Factorial Design and Taguchi Method separately. The two methods have been compared according to the obtained results.
