Abstract:

The Portuguese Cancer League (LPCC), a private non-profit organization, deals with multiple issues related to oncology, including the National Breast Cancer Screening Program. In this study, we have approximately 260,000 first time registries of women in the central region of Portugal. A profile of the population in the 12 sub-regions that make this region will be presented in terms of Age, Screening Date, Age of Menarche and Menopause, HRT, Pregnancy Status, Nursing Status, and Contraceptive Pills. Since the breast cancer risk can be associated with several reproductive factors, such as, early menarche and late menopause ages, a correspondence analysis was performed, where we found that early menarche was associated with younger women in our study and with early menopause ages. The difference between menarche and menopause ages tends to increase until 1945 and decrease after that.
