Abstract:
|
The Census Bureau conducts a census of governments every five years and a sample survey in the intercensal period. For the 2006 annual survey, a macro edit procedure was developed to isolate suspicious data at the aggregate level. Simple parameters were established based on subject-matter expertise. For the 2007 Census, the Hidiroglou-Berthelot method of determining edit bounds (H-B method) was used as a macro editing procedure. Both methods result in the identification of data that require manual review and analysis. This paper compares the methods used in the two years and provides recommendations for future applications.
