Abstract:

In today's fast paced and dynamic global environment, the scope of federal agencies' purview must be broad. As a result, there are numerous efforts carried out by these agencies that are ideal candidates for the application of social network approaches. These include intelligence, defense, regulatory, law enforcement, and organizational effectiveness. As such, the purpose of the current presentation will be to outline and discuss the various uses of social network analysis in support of federal agencies. Topics discussed will include how SNA can be utilized to identify key individuals or emergent leaders in organizational or terrorist networks; how it can be used to help defense clients uncover and efficiently monitor covert networks; and how SNA can be used to streamline business communication and workflow processes.
