Author(s): Dalene K. Stangl*+

Address: 212 Old Chemistry, Durham, NC, 27708,
Keywords: Bayesian ; Education
Abstract:

This talk will present experiences and views on teaching Bayesian inference to graduate students in health-related fields. These students tend to be quite varied in their mathematical backgrounds, their proficiency in fitting and interpreting statistical models, and in their understanding of the conceptual foundations of statistical inference. Hence this talk will present suggestions for dealing with this variability in a way that successfully engages diverse students to master the basics of Bayesian statistics.
