Abstract:

When there are departures from assigned treatments in a randomized controlled trial (RCT), researchers are faced with the problem of estimating treatment benefits in compliant and cross-over patients while respecting randomization. We will discuss why some of the well-known traditional approaches may not be our best option. We also will discuss some of the newest approaches for dealing with this problem.
