Abstract:
|
To assess the efficacy of a new vaccine or the effect a risk factor, we may use the relative difference (RD). We develop five asymptotic interval estimators of the RD for a series of independent 2x2 tables. We employ Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate the performance of these estimators. We include an example studying the protection effect of taking aspirin on reducing all the cause mortality in post-myocardial infarction patients to illustrate the practical usefulness of these estimators.
