Abstract:

Since 1970, data have been collected on the phenology, grape acidity and sugar levels, and overall vintage quality, at a number of the top chateaux in Bordeaux. The phenology data give the average dates of florasion, verasion, and harvest for each year. Average acidity and sugar levels are available for both Cabernet and Merlot grapes. In addition, data are available on climatic conditions from April to September each year in Bordeaux. In this talk, we use modern regression methods to understand the effects of phenology, grape acidity and sugar levels, and climate on wine quality.
