Hughes Aircraft Co. observed Math Awareness Week for the first time in 1997. Our only event, conducted at Hughes' complex in El Segundo, California, was an excellent talk on Wavelets by Prof. Antonio Ortega of the Signals and Image Processing Institute of the University of Southern California. Approximately 110 Hughes scientists and engineers were in attendance, and next year we will schedule a bigger room!
