Dimensions, the Allegheny College student chapter of the MAA, sponsored four Mathematics Awareness Week activities. An exhibit of posters and information about careers and applications of mathematics filled the lobby of the mathematics and physics building. The video "Minerva's Machine: Women and Computing" was shown and discussed over refreshments one evening. A problem solving contest was held with the Steiner Tree and auction strategy problems being directly related to decision making. The week closed with a talk about the "Mathematics of Auctions" given by David Housman.

Mathematics Awareness Month is sponsored each year by the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics to recognize the importance of mathematics through written materials and an accompanying poster that highlight mathematical developments and applications in a particular area.
