Dave Abbot, a consulting geologist, found the draft thoughtful and will
call the attention of geological societies to it. He added:

I have one substantive comment on your guidelines. I suggest changing
the title of Section C, "Reporting Responsibilities" to "Statistical
Reporting Responsibilities." This suggested change makes explicit what
types of reports are the subject of this section, namely statistically
based reports, rather than reporting ethically questionable conduct to
some appropriate authority.

1. In Section G, one of the organizations upon which the Code is based
is listed as the "Association for Computer Manufacturers." Is this
intended to refer to the Association for Computer Machinery, the
computer science professional society commonly known to us as "ACM"?
This attribution might not be part of the formal Code, but perhaps a
clarification would be in order.

Ronald Thisted < also caught this gaffe.

Apologies to the Association for Computing Machinery, ACM.

2. Preamble, Section C, item 2, wording. The phrase "all right" is all
right, but a more formal alternative would be "acceptable," as in "it is
acceptable to advocate a position, but not acceptable ..." In fact, as
presented the entire second sentence in item 2 is an awkward read. Would
you consider: "It is acceptable to advocate a position but not
acceptable to intentionally misapply statistical methods to support a
position."

3. Ethical Guidelines, Section A, Item 6. The ":" in the first sentence
is redundant
