DESCRIPTIVE ABSTRACT: Goals.dat contains the order of scoring for 39 ultimate games. Possessions.dat contains the result of 2714 possessions during 36 games. SOURCES: The data were recorded at the 2001 College Ultimate Championships held in Boston, Massachusetts, May 25-27 and provided to the author by Will Deaver and the Ultimate Players Association. VARIABLE DESCRIPTIONS: In Goals.dat: Six Variables. This file has no missing values. 1. Outcome (A/B), which team scored. 2. Oteam (A/B), which team started on offense. 3. Wind (U/D), direction was Oteam going. 4. Team A, name of team A, which started the game on offense. 5. Team B, name of team B, which started the game on defense. 6. Sheet, categorical variable that is different for each game. In Possessions.dat: Eleven Variables. This file has missing values. 1. PR (g, x, d, p, s, h), possession result. Goal (g), Turnover (x), Defensive block on receiver (d), Point block on thrower (p), stall (s), or halftime (h). 2. SP (A/B/C), starting position. Did offense start in own half (A), opponent's half but not within 10 yards of endzone (B), or within 10 yards of opponent's endzone (C). Blank if missing. 3. NP, number of completed passes before score or turnover. Blank if missing. 4. D (Z/ ), defense, did the defense play zone (Z) or man (blank). Also blank if not recorded (missing data). 5. WT (Y/ ), within ten, did the offence get within 10 yards of endzone (Y) or not (blank). Also blank if not recorded (missing data). 6. GD (S/M/L), goal distance, length of scoring toss. Empty if PR is not "g" (not applicable) or if not recorded (missing data). 7. Wind (U/D), direction Oteam was going for this point. 8. Oteam, Team on offense for this possession. 9. Sheet, categorical variable that is different for each game. 10. TeamA, name of team A, which started the game on offense. 11. TeamB, name of team B, which started the game on defense.
