"The American Statistical Association (ASA) endorses the stated purposes of the April 22 March for Science as a celebration of our passion for science and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. The ASA is a nonpartisan, apolitical organization. Our purpose is promoting the practice and profession of statistics. As such, we support our members' advocacy for statistics and science in general. We encourage our members to show their support for the stated purposes of the March for Science in whatever ways they choose, whether it's taking part in the march or in some other way."
The ASA has announced the selection of candidates for the 2017 election, and the polls are open! The winning candidates' terms will begin in 2018. Make sure to look for your ballots in your email inbox and vote early. Ballots were sent out via email on March 15, and voting ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on May 1.
The ASA Symposium on Statistical Inference will be held October 11–13 in Bethesda, MD. Building on our statement on p-values published one year ago this month, the symposium will focus on specific approaches for advancing scientific methods in the 21st century, considering issues that affect not only research, but research funding, journal practices, career advancement, education, public policy, journalism, and law.
