Statistics Is the Science of Cross-Cultural (304801)

Statisticians play a major role in the development of all countries and the advancement of science. Statistical consultants build their careers on successful collaborations, and they face numerous challenges in both academic and real-world situations. This phenomenological study addressed the experiences of cross-cultural statisticians with respect to the challenges that they face at work and how they interact with their clients. Interviews conducted with four expert cross-cultural statisticians yielded themes in five areas: 1) Workplace Challenges (2) Cross-Cultural Challenges, (3) Future of the Statistics Profession, (4) Qualifications of Successful Statisticians, and (5) Masters vs. PhD: Which One is Right for You? The results indicate that major professional challenges include, keeping up with change, increasing data sources (Big Data), conveying statistical concepts to clients, and working in multiple disciplines. Key elements of effective statistical consulting included correct education, ability to define research problems in practical terms, and flexible communication skills for effective collaboration. Students must acquire skills in all of these areas to compete successfu
