Shaping our Community: Past, Present, and Future

Adventures of a Statistician: Communities Across Countries and Jobs (303906)

*Anna K. Panorska, University of Nevada Reno

Keywords: community, diversity, jobs, cultures

This talk will explore experience of a woman statistician across countries, historical times, cultures, and work environments. From Europe to the United States working and living communities change and provide different challenges and opportunities. Work in academia, private industry and soft-funded research institutions also spans across varying communities. Diversity of countries and work organizations necessitates development of new knowledge, skills, understanding of work expectations, and work communities. It also stimulates creativity on all levels. With the change of environment statistical work becomes an exciting adventure in various communities that shape us as well as are shaped by us.
