Digital Agriculture: Methods and Implications

Managing Spatio-Temporal Variability of Critical Soil Nutrients on Farms (303844)

*Maria Antonia Terres, The Climate Corporation

Keywords: spatial, temporal, agriculture, data science

The Climate Corporation is one of the leaders in the emerging domain of software tools for precision agriculture, bringing the benefits of data science to the farm with Climate FieldViewâ„¢. One feature of this app is the Nitrogen Monitoring Tool which enables farmers to optimize their nitrogen fertilizer inputs and protect their crops from potential yield loss. The tool enables exploration of both temporal variation in the plant available nitrogen across the growing season and the spatial variation of this nitrogen within any field. Development of this feature provides an opportunity for statisticians and data scientists to explore many spatio-temporal methods.

This abstract is intended to be presented in a joint session with two other talks from The Climate Corporation: "Creation of Management Zones at The Climate Corporation" by Jooyoon Han, "Hypothesis Formulation, Experimental Design and the Analysis of a Digital Agriculture Trial to Evaluate Novel Precision Farming Algorithms" by Kate Hu, and "Managing Spatio-Temporal Variability of Critical Soil Nutrients on Farms" by Maria Terres. This joint session would give an overview of "Statistical Advances in Precision Agriculture".
