The passing of Lars Lyberg is a loss to the survey research community. He was a friend, mentor, and enthusiastic leader in survey research. Lars’ research interests spanned a number of topics in the world of sample surveys. And his strong interest in the quality of official statistics did not diminish over the years. This paper will highlight some of Lars many interests and accomplishments and reflect on the traits that made him so successful and important to the survey research community.
