Abstract #300106
Title: Statistical Challenges of Pulsar Timing
Author(s): G. Jogesh Babu*
Companies: Penn State University
Keywords: pulsar timing; gravitational wave; time series; radio pulses
Abstract:

Pulsar timing is the regular monitoring of the rotation of the neutron star by tracking the times of arrival of the radio pulses. This very precise tracking of rotational phase allows testing of gravitational theories. However, the actual time series present various challenges for robust statistical inference. A brief review of statistical challenges will be presented.
