To develop partnerships between university faculty and secondary school teachers of statistics, the Math Sciences department at Clemson University hosts an Advanced Placement Statistics Practice Exam each spring. The practice exam is administered on the campus one Saturday morning close to the AP Statistics Exam date in May. The exam is scored on-site the day of the event. College faculty are paired with the participating AP Statistics teachers during the grading process, which provides valuable professional development and networking opportunities. Similar events are held at institutions throughout the US, including George Mason University, UNC-Wilmington, and the University of Delaware. The hosting institutions work collaboratively to write a new practice exam each year according to the AP testing specifications. This session will provide an overview of the event logistics and will discuss the benefits of hosting such an event from the perspectives of the students, the AP teachers, and the college faculty that participate. Session attendees will be invited to consider hosting their own practice exam and will be given guidance on how to do so.
