Abstract:

Norm made multifaceted contributions across biostatistics and epidemiology. I was fortunate to be Norm's student during 1995-99 and get infected by his passion on two-phase design, a powerful extension of the case-control design, the bedrock of epidemiologic studies, including modern genome-wide association studies. In my talk, I will narrate his contributions in developing methodology for analysis of two-phase studies and subsequent huge impact of his work on the research of his colleagues and students.
