Abstract:

Would your practice of statistics benefit by applying a process based on statistical thinking that collects data on your interactions with clients, analyzes those data, and then determines the next steps for implementing improvements? We believe that statisticians who want to improve their professional interactions with domain experts and co-workers can benefit from video recording meetings, analyzing short clips from the video in a small group setting, and determining the next steps they will take to improve their practice of statistics. Using video clips from real interactions with domain experts in academia, this presentation will demonstrate how video coaching and feedback sessions can be used to improve the practice of statistics. Attendees will be able to implement this process with colleagues back home, which will potentially have wide, positive impact on the professional development of statisticians in their organizations.
